One of the most popular ways to increase engagement with your game is to add rewards to it! It's a great tool for encouraging plays and making a memorable impression. It's also the last step before publishing your game, so to set up rewards you'll need to have created a campaign first. Check out the rest of our help articles for more information on setting up a campaign and customizing your game.

1. Rewards aren't enabled for your game by default, so on the Rewards page you'll need to check the "Enable Player Rewards" checkbox at the top to turn them on. There are two types of rewards to choose from - players being rewarded when they beat the current top score, or players being rewarded randomly. To select a reward option, after you've enabled player rewards click on the "Choose" button below the option you'd like to use.

2. There are a few different fields that you can customize, and the fields with borders highlighted pink are required. If you've elected to reward players when they beat the current top score, you'll be able to set:

  • The name of the reward (this text is displayed directly on the voucher screen)
  • The number of rewards available to win (once this limit is reached, no more rewards will be displayed to players, even if they beat the current top score)
  • A reward URL (optional). This will be included when the voucher is displayed to winners, and they'll be able to click the link to go to a web version of the voucher or a website where they can redeem their voucher, depending on what you set it to be
  • The minimum score needed to qualify for a reward
  • A reward image (optional). This can be useful if you want to display a voucher code or add your own branding to the voucher page

3. Click "Save" to save your changes, and then "Continue" at the top of the page - you'll need to publish your game on the next page to make the voucher live. Here's what this reward looks like to winners:

4. After you set a reward, when you navigate to the rewards page of your campaign you can see the reward listed in the menu on the right, along with the number of rewards that have been won out of the total that you set. In the Rewards List, click on the name of the listed reward to edit it or the small x in the top right to cancel the reward and remove it from your game. Just make sure to re-publish your game again to save any changes!

5. You can click on "Add a New Reward" to add another reward. If you'd like to reward players randomly, select that option. There are a few fields to fill in:

  • The name of the reward (this text is displayed directly on the voucher screen)
  • The number of rewards available to win (once this limit is reached, no more rewards will be displayed to players)
  • The random odds. This means that, on average, one out of every 15 plays (or whichever number you pick) will be given a reward. You can make the odds better or harder for your players
  • A reward URL (optional). This will be included when the voucher is displayed to winners, and they'll be able to click the link to go to a web version of the voucher or a website where they can redeem their voucher, whichever you set it to be
  • The minimum score needed to qualify for a reward
  • A reward image (optional). This can be useful if you want to display a voucher code or add your own branding to the voucher page

7. After your players win and see their voucher, they can click on "Got it!" to be dropped back on the leaderboard or end screen page. The voucher isn't automatically sent to your winners via email, as not all companies like to have emails sent to their players, but you do have access to download player details in a CSV file of both the winners of your game and everyone who has entered. You can get to these tables via the "Winners" and "Entries" tabs of your campaign.

8. You can also take advantage of our Mailchimp integration if you're on our Studio or Agency plan, and automate emails that way. You'll need to have your own Mailchimp account and use their system settings to generate an API key for you. Click on the "Integrations" tab in the top menu to go to the integrations page, tick the checkbox to enable your Mailchimp integration, enter in the API key from Mailchimp, and select which of your Mailchimp Audiences should be integrated with Gizmo. Then click "Save" to save your integration.

9. If you'd like to edit your rewards in the future, a quick way to do that is to use the "Rewards" tab at the top of your Campaign Dashboard. This will show you what rewards you currently have set and allow you to go to the page where you can edit or set new ones.
